Without ever smelling it in person, I felt the compulsion to go ahead and blind-buy this scent from Indonesian brand The Body Tale anyway. Maybe it was the kimono-clad feline on its label, or the fact that it’s the exact hue of a well-brewed tea—in any case, Portrait of Kyoto promised to be a smooth blend of earl grey, apple and honey. Sure enough, its fresh jasmine opening is perfumed with the uplifting aroma of black tea and juicy red apples, before mellowing into a soft cloud of amber and sandalwood. Believe it or not, Dyson has done it again. Their pioneer launch into the oral care sector has been shaping up to be a prolific one with the release of the Dyson Camerajet; a revolutionary toothbrush that condenses brushing, flossing and rinsing into a single step. This bodes well for anyone who struggles to keep up with a consistent regime—like in my case, where I’m not as religious about flossing as I’d like. Bearing this in mind, I was most intrigued by its conical precision spray that utilises an in-built camera to send bursts of mouthwash in between the gaps of your teeth to jet away plaque. While the sensation is jarring at first use, you’re able to toggle it to the most gentle setting to ease the initial discomfort. I got used to it within days of use and am pleased to report that it left my chompers feeling squeaky clean.
