Eight years ago, in a laboratory situated in the heart of Melbourne, an intriguing notion springs forth—a body cleanser that goes beyond purifying, where it is able to nourish parched, dehydrated skin types in the same breath. The vision continues to unfold: an elixir, deliciously-decadent and creamy in texture, but not lacking in its ability to eradicate impurities. A nurturing emulsion, effective across all complexion types but particularly for individuals struggling with skin dryness. To some, this would merely be a pipe dream. To Aesop, however, it simply is a projection of what is to come. Indeed, it is a fantasy that has transformed into reality this 2025 with the launch of Aesop’s Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser.

“Our experience in developing face cleansers tells us that drier skin types require non-disruptive, non-aggravating but nonetheless efficient cleansing containing mild surfactants alongside generous measures of emollients and hydrating ingredients,” explains Samy Hamada, Aesop’s director of research and development. “For many years we have harboured a desire to offer such nurturing, emulsion-based cleansing to the whole body, and following much experimentation we are able to realise that ambition with Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser.”
Cleansing, reimagined
If there’s one thing Aesop’s science-backed philosophy guarantees, it is an efficacious composition. In the case of the Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser, it begins with a bevy of protective emollients. Think shea butter, jojoba seed, and tocopherol, all of which encases skin in a film that prevents water loss. Humectants glycerin and saccharide isomerate, too, work in tandem to hydrate and refresh, leaving skin feeling soft, supple, and refreshed.

What follows is a series of purifying botanicals to obliterate all traces of dirt and grime. Cedar atlas, for one, comprises antifungal and antibacterial properties known to soothe inflammation, redness, and itching. Clove bud, on the other hand, is known to calm skin and improve blood circulation.
Not forgetting, of course, the inclusion of patchouli. The Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser’s herbaceous, peppery notes are complemented by its presence, whereupon it infuses skin with a warm, woody touch. Its distinct aroma is also found in the Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm: a highly-hydrating skin salve crafted specifically to shield and heal weather-wearied digits. Should indulgence be on the menu post-shower, the Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm serves as a perfect complement, permeating parched, dehydrated areas with moisture. A daily practice, made exceptional—the core message and heart as to the campaign behind Aesop’s Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser.
Self-care, elevated
To convey this, Nayoung Kim—an integral member of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch—was tapped for the brand’s global campaign to choreograph a piece spotlighting Aesop’s interpretation of a shower regime.
“The dance is very abstract. We thought a lot about happiness. And then we thought about moisturising,” she remarks. “And moisturising to me is like humans coming together: to touch together, or to exchange together.”
As for Singapore, an original rendition with professional ballerina, Alison Carroll; a powerful performance demonstrating how the Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser rouses the senses and has awakened movement within her body.
