One can always expect a spectacular visual treat whenever a new fashion week roster rolls around. It was no different this spring/summer 2025 season. From New York to Paris, the past few weeks have displayed plenty of dynamism and creativity on the runway, as the industry’s greatest minds breathed life into collections that were to reflect the zeitgeist’s mood come the spring season of 2025. Nostalgia rang true throughout, the past often informing the present (and likewise, the future); like the multitude of references at Prada or Anthony Vaccarello’s tribute to Yves Saint Laurent’s deliciously masculine approach to tailoring. High anticipation was also met with high praise for Chemena Kamali’s sophomore show: a dreamy, rapturous collection that billowed and cascaded down the runway.
Between sheer, floaty silhouettes that whispered of summer, more tempered propositions of leather and an overarching sensibility towards wearable whimsy, the season presented a flurry of accessories that were sure to ascertain It status once spring comes around. On the bag front, there was plenty of room for room. We’re talking incredibly spacious options you could pack your entire schedule into, be it that colossal shoulder tote from Balenciaga or the sporty duffel from Dior. Gold accents—many inspired by forces of nature—delightfully charmed its way in too: a birdcage bag at Chanel, kangaroo engravings on a Zimmerman clutch and the prettiest of slingable seashells at Chloé. This season also saw a splendid outing on the headgear front, from those extravagant, floppy hats at Valentino and Louis Vuitton, to the statement leather wigs at Bottega Veneta. And should a tad of maximalist jewellery tickle your fancy? Then take hints of opulence from the beaded necklaces at Saint Laurent or the stacks of belted arm cuffs at Miu Miu.
