Show review in a line: A vivid commentary on the intricacies of modern age.
Designer: Miuccia Prada
Location: Palais d’Iéna
The vibe: The Palais d’Iéna morphed into a compelling scene for Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2025 show, where guests found themselves in a fictional concept called ‘The Truthless Times‘. The installation evoked the ambience of a newspaper printing factory, with projections of whirring presses dancing across the walls and newspapers spinning overhead on racks. With a star-studded front row including the likes of Camila Cabello, Barbara Palvin, Daisy Ridley, Tom Bateman, and Jang Wonyoung, the show commenced with a short film, inviting viewers to reflect on the interplay of truth and misinformation. Goshka Macuga’s film The Truthless Times poignantly illustrated the tug-of-war between Logos (logic) and Pathos (emotion). An exploration of the conflicting forces that shape contemporary information, the narrative beckoned guests to contemplate the collection’s overall mood, each look echoing an abstract illustration of these pressing themes.
The vision: Titled ‘Salt Looks Like Sugar’, the range referenced the ‘90s with metallic lips, key pieces from the house’s spring/summer 2005 archives, and a wide range of silhouettes. Models walked in knee-length pleated skirts, colour-blocked parkas, coverall dresses layered over bikinis, sporty tracksuits, and cut-out swimsuits. It was an eclectic mix of ’70s prints, private-school uniforms, Western belts paired with dresses, and vintage slips matched with bikini tops. Miu Miu’s feminine side came through in paisley dresses, white frocks, and mesh pinafores with frilled hems. Embellished shirts with broderie collars and floral sequins were paired with sportier pieces like colour-blocked windbreakers, retro trainers, and zip-up jackets. Cotton bodysuits with circular cut-outs added a fresh twist to simple pieces, while leggings made an obvious comeback. The familiar bedraggled hairstyles—back-combed flyaway baby hairs and messy half-ponytails—kept the maison’s signature look alive.
What to shop from this collection: One thing to note about this season’s collection was its playful retro-inspired accessories. Oversized sunglasses in bold colours, some seemingly worn upside down, added a fresh, quirky flair that the brand has becoming synonymous with. Thick, glimmering chain belts layered with gemstones complement pieces with a shimmering touch. And not forgetting—the bags—another must-have this season, with both fan favourites and exciting new silhouettes. Footwear options are also not to be missed; with peep-toe and pointed-toe heels with charming bows at the back, alongside flat, open-toed mules, paired with skin-tight leg warmers for that extra kitschy charm.
