The vibe: Panels of wooden frames sectioning the show venue underscores the overarching theme for the Hermès spring/summer 2025 show today. As the show notes gently suggest the idea of exploring the very basis of design—the initial narrative was set: from first sketch to drafting, pattern making, cutting to the eventual assembling of materials within a workshop.
The vision: What felt more immediate was the fact that these clothes today were made with the wearer in mind. On how gesticulation with functionality came in a form of filmy stretch fabrics that moves to the body while industrial zippers running down the curve of the shoulders to the front of a slinky dress easily proves this to be one of Vanhee’s sexiest collection to date.
Her keen understanding towards colours, balance and the tension it creates between materials brought forth a series of ultra-modern propositions that range from a gauzy cropped polo tee that sits on top of a panelled leather skirt to a pair of inky pellucid pants swirling from under a glossy leather trench. In short, this collection is giving post Pilates, juice cleanse and light agenda Fridays.
What to shop from this collection: Today is one of those days where you will be spoilt for choice at Hermès. Take the dishy playsuit for instance (look 7) where a switch of footwear, say a pair of strappy sandals would have the propensity of dialling up one’s sex appeal while the leather trench with a generous ruche at the back (look 9) proves itself to be quite a standout piece with the ability to weather through the passing of trends. Of course let’s not forget about the glorious Birkins with the reverse flap washed in both hazel and burnt amber (look 22). As for shoes, the summer open toe clogs will sit quite nicely with the strong boho trend punctuating the whole of next season (look 28).
