Between formal black tie at the Oscars and the outlandish glamour of the Grammys, there is very little the two awards ceremonies have in common apart from a lively red carpet parade of our favourite stars. But this year, celebrities from both music and film appear to share a penchant for this emerging jewellery trend: upsized bracelet stacks.
Sported first by Hailey Bieber at the Vanity Fair party, celebrities are indeed levelling up their bracelet game, but this time they’re skipping past dainty, skinny chains in favour of the chunkiest bangles and cuffs money can buy. Everyone’s wearing them in big stacks and on both wrists, Wonder Woman style.

Hailey Bieber’s elegant Saint-Laurent dress was matched with twin rows of Tiffany & Co. cuffs and bangles worn over sleeves. In addition to the classic Elsa Peretti open side Bone Cuff, she also wore the late designer’s Wing cuff, Swirl cuff, and Doughnut bangle, plus a Schlumberger Crazy Twist bracelet, all in yellow gold.

But whether in gold or silver, the Elsa Peretti Bone cuff appears to be enjoying a renaissance of sorts. This iconic jewellery piece was last in major spotlight just two years ago, seen on Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman 1984 as a reference to the mythological Bracelets of Submission worn by the Amazons.

Other celebrities who wore it at the 2022 Oscars include Venus Williams who rocked a white and silver Elie Saab gown, and traded wrist bands for Elsa Peretti large Bone cuffs, one on each wrist. Musical icon Liza Minnelli, too, wore silver Bone cuffs as she joined Lady Gaga on stage to present the Best Picture award.

Meanwhile at the Grammys, Addison Rae jazzed up her silk cami gown by Nili Lotan with double rows of chunky silver cuffs from New York jeweller Jennifer Fisher. Likewise, Charlotte Lawrence flaunted more than side boob with her sexy Saint-Laurent dress, but also a trio of chunky sculptural bangles tinted in gold.

Gold tone jewellery also was a major highlight of Dua Lipa’s Versace ensemble. Her bondage style dress offered a throwback to a 1992 Cindy Crawford red carpet moment, and her earrings and rings were all white gold and diamonds by Bulgari, but the Levitating singer updated the look with chunky chains around her wrist and neck—a look shared by Ashlee Simpson, albeit in silver tone.

Before twinning with Dua Lipa onstage, who else but Megan Thee Stallion strutted down the Grammys red carpet arms full of sculptural gold tone cuffs, which were a perfect match with her Roberto Cavalli leopard print dress. Wearing them over both wrists, she contrasted sleek cuffs with bodacious bangles for an utterly amazing look that so perfectly balanced power and beauty, Wonder Woman would start taking notes.
