For Hailey Bieber, the Academy Awards is a time to reconnect with the people who matter most. Having grown up around the entertainment community, Bieber understands the importance of cinema’s biggest night and the special significance its post-show events can hold. An opportunity to spend time celebrating with colleagues and family members in a glamorous setting, the party circuit serves as a mini-reunion. “The highlight of my night was just being with friends,” shared Bieber, who it up Vanity Fair’s annual bash with pals like Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajakowsi, and Kim Kardashian. “It was fun to catch up with people I haven’t seen in the last while.”
As with any reunion, you’ve got to put your best foot forward, and Bieber did just that in a striking creation by Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello. Her coffee-hued gown with cut-out details at the waist and a delicate rosette brought Parisian chic to the event’s red carpet with its sleek design and unexpected color palette. Thanks to the many subtle details Vaccarello incorporated into the look, it was also full of surprises. “I loved the dress’ low back,” says Bieber of the daring skin reveal. “In the end, that was my favorite element. I was going for this slightly more sultry vibe.”
Working with stylist Karla Welch to create a seductive statement look, Bieber kept things monochromatic and simple, accessorizing only with gilded Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti cuffs. Makeup artist Mary Phillips and hairstylist Bryce Scarlett added to the louche feel by giving Bieber subtly smoky eyeshadow and soft light-brown waves, both coordinated to the gown’s palette. “I loved the dress’s color so much,” says Bieber. “I wanted the beauty to feel a little dark on the eyes and a bit looser on the hair to create a cohesive look from head to toe.”
Bieber was ready for the main event after achieving the modern, sultry Oscar night look of her dreams. “The VF party is always really fun,” she says. “It just felt good to be out and having a great night!”
