The 75th British Academy Film Awards returned to an in-person event at Royal Albert Hall after last year’s virtual presentation. The winners at the BAFTAs 2022? An A-lister lineup including West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose and King Richard star Will Smith. History was also made—with Troy Kotsur being the first deaf person to win a BAFTA, for his role in CODA.
Yet, the evening’s fanfare did not take away from the attendees’ glitzy ensembles. Think Rising Star Award winner Lashana Lynch’s Prada number paired with archival Tiffany & Co. jewels, Emma Watson in a velvet-and-tulle Oscar de la Renta ensemble and Salma Hayek in a custom Gucci column gown. As for menswear, Daniel Kaluuya’s fur-trimmed Prada coat made the headlines, while Kodi Smit-McPhee was decked in Louis Vuitton and Cartier. While each look was undeniably show-stopping, opera gloves—one of 2022’s biggest fashion trends yet—proved to be a hit on the red carpet. Millie Bobby Brown donned a simple black pair to accentuate her Louis Vuitton dress while Sienna Miller channelled boudoir chic in Gucci.
