To refresh your memory: the last in-person BAFTA Film Awards took place in 2020, where darkly-compelling thriller Joker garnered a staggering eleven nominations in various categories. Hosted by Graham Norton, the ceremony harboured the fanfare and grandeur fitting of all prior BAFTA proceedings, with industry heavyweights such as Laura Dern and Renée Zellweger in attendance. Fast forward to the present at the BAFTA Film Awards 2022, and it’s clear to see that not much has changed—a relief in itself, considering the marked difference felt with 2021’s mostly digital presentation.
The BAFTA Film Awards 2022 took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London; a two-hour long commemoration of the most impressive films and documentaries aired on British screens. As expected, sci-fi epic, Dune, swept the most awards, while Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog was named best film. What we didn’t see coming, however, was the series of impressive hair and make-up looks accompanying nominees and guests, with sculptural ‘do’s and dimensional eyeshadow looks stealing the focus.
Emma Watson showed up with slicked-back waves anchored by an array of chic yet functional bobby pins; Caitriona Balfe rocked a vampy berry-coloured lip and matching eyeshadow; while Florence Pugh turned heads thanks to her gelled down strands incorporating striking hair jewellery. And that’s from all. Below, a curation of the most breathtaking beauty looks from the the BAFTA Film Awards 2022.
