Beyond the big screen, Chan also has her ways at ruling the red carpet with her signature brand of grace and poise—crowned by incredibly thick, shiny locks that always seem to frame her delicate but striking angular face ever so perfectly.

It was way back in 2014 that we first took notice of her enviably full, jet black tresses at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards, worn in a low bun and side parted that’s been a go-to style of hers for years now. Side parts are considered one of the most flattering styles for those with round face shapes, and Chan certainly knows her way around accentuating her round face shape—albeit with sharp and enviably proportionate features—and gentle jawline. She makes this look her own no matter the outfit or vibe, changing things up by adding the occasional wispy tendril or wearing her hair down in classic loose waves or sleek, straight and bouncy. 

Unlike her locks, she’s more adventurous with her make-up choices. What started out as mainly red lips to match lush lashes, large, dark eyes and golden olive skin tone slowly transitioned into a deeper oxblood hue in 2018 at the Mary Queen of Scots premiere, and a pretty pink lip-and-eye shadow combination at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2019. It wasn’t till the last two years did she really amp things up with a silver foil eye look at the 2019 Met Gala, eye gems at the 74th Annual Cannes Film Festival, and violet-lavender graphic eye at the UK gala screening of Marvel Studios’ Eternals. These purple accents were a complete departure from the monochrome look she wore to the Eternals premiere in Rome, with sensual shades of taupe-y, peachy nudes from lids to cheeks to lips.
