It’s been a phenomenal year for the silver screen, from the mesmerisingly cinematic and heart-warming Project Hail Mary to the egregiously thought-provoking horror delivered by breakout actors in Obsession. The torch passes on now, to a titan of the film industry—Christopher Nolan himself, for The Odyssey. From the director of box-office hits such as Interstellar and Oppenheimer comes the tale of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he navigates the treacherous journey back home to his beloved wife Penelope, after the Trojan War. It isn’t just the director whose name has ears perked, however. The star-studded cast, featuring the crème de la crème of cinema today, has been artfully draping their way across the London, Paris and Mumbai stops of the global press tour. Just like that, Grecian couture has quickly become the go-to reference for every photo call and red-carpet look.
Actresses such as Zendaya and Charlize Theron have seamlessly transitioned from one premiere to the next; some in gowns only eight hours off the runway (nobody works harder than Law Roach). Directly echoing styles and motifs synonymous with Ancient Greece, these Hollywood powerhouses are traversing sartorial boundaries for the voyage that is The Odyssey press tour, inspiring the epic quality of its source material.
Zendaya, portraying Athena, is pure method-dressing sublimity. A Valentino gown tailored to rival a Greek peplos; custom Jacquemus paired with statesque earrings; and Givenchy by Alexander McQueen paired with a Philip Treacy headpiece as a modern ode to Athena’s golden helmet—outfits the Greek goddess herself would hunt down. Attired ever so sensationally, Law Roach and Z have taken every opportunity to remind us of their place in fashion’s pantheon. Who else could get Daniel Roseberry to release his final couture look just moments after it walked the runway?
Charlize Theron, meanwhile, cannot be accused of lacking range. Having previously starred in Apex, a film set in the Australian wilderness, the actress has now transported us entirely into the ancient Greek empire with Givenchy by Sarah Burton: of velvet drapery paired to dramatic arm warmers for both the premiere and after-party. Meanwhile, her reworked Dior fall 2026 gown—theatrical yet sensual, accented with black lace and a flowing asymmetrical skirt—made for an unforgettable moment at the Paris leg of the tour.
And there’s always more to see where this A-list crew is concerned. Anne Hathaway has ditched the glamorous life of Andy Sachs to play the devoted and faithful Penelope, now expecting her third child, Hathaway has elevated maternity wear to a whole new level, in custom Louis Vuitton and ruffled Blumarine. Robert Pattinson continues to cut a handsome figure in tailored Dior (and a sharp pair of eyewear); and Samantha Morton stays seductive yet malevolent in all-black Bottega. Matt Damon, taking lead role as Odysseus, has gone the simpler route, in timeless neutrals from Brunello Cuccinelli. Tom Holland, as British as ever, had morse code incorporated into his Gieves and Hawkes suit—taking a page out of his wife’s notebook. Lupita Nyong’o, meanwhile, has been spotted flitting between some Christian Cowan, as well as custom Chanel.
