In an era marked by global unrest and cultural fatigue, there is a quiet longing for something slower and more soulful. Once rooted in the crafting communities during the 1970s, bohemianism returns not as a fleeting trend but as a state of mind. With it comes a renewed appetite for romanticism, filtering into our wardrobes through floaty dresses, florals and block prints, handcrafted accessories, suede boots and oversized glasses, all in the spirit of freedom.
The bohemian movement made a striking return with Kamali’s debut at Chloé in 2024, and since then we’ve seen a wave of flowy, frilly chiffon dresses, tops, and skirts. This fall/winter 2025 season, collections from the likes of Blumarine, Saint Laurent and Celine embraced the trend, crafting dresses and skirts in floral patterns adorned with delicate frills. Fringe, another defining element of the bohemian style, also had its moment this season with Prada reimagining its Galleria bag covered in cut-leather fringe, while Valentino’s Nellcôte bag was adorned with studs, eclectic patterns, and layers of fringe.
Accessories, intentionally mismatched by mixing metals, materials, gemstones, chains, and beads to celebrate individuality and uniqueness, are a key styling point of the movement. Earrings from Zimmermann and Dries Van Noten were no exception, showcasing distinctive silhouettes and materials, while Miu Miu, Bode, and Loewe each presented their own unique takes on necklaces, belts, and charms. Speaking of materials, suede, a perennial favourite, was featured prominently in the collections of Isabel Marant and Etro, appearing in both footwear and bags, each piece distinguished by details like braided pipings or intricate carvings.
After years of minimalism and quiet luxury, it’s time to channel your inner spirit with a wardrobe that feels free and expressive, where fringe sway, prints collide, and where every piece offers you a brief escape.
