This, according to the Euphoria star, makes her “Barbie Weasley”; a reference to iconic redhead Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter franchise.
While it is unclear exactly what or whom kickstarted the copper hair trend, the general consensus amongst TikTok users is that the hue first started garnering interest with the release of Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit last year, which featured Anya-Taylor Joy in the titular role. This was immediately followed by Gigi Hadid’s return to the runway in March 2021, where she sported the exact same vibrant hue—and the rest, as they say, is history. According to hair professionals, its popularity can be credited to its versatility, where it suits a variety of skin tones.
