Gigi Hadid is something of a beauty realist. A survey of her post-pregnancy beauty routine reveals a penchant for drugstore skin care, throwback spot treatments (read: the toothpaste trick), and an insistence that, as a new mum, what you see in this video is not representative of her current everyday routine. “Sometimes I go a week without touching make-up—or, you know, just putting on deodorant is like…‘we’re doing great.’”
That said, Hadid is a supermodel, which means that, when executed, her routine offers ample learned lessons. While pregnant with her first child—a daughter, Khai, with Zayn Malik—Hadid relied on Oliveda, a line of products centered on olive tree extracts. But that was last summer.

Now, in winter’s drying months and with Khai out of utero, the model’s regimen has shifted toward tried-and-true effectiveness over all-out purity. A base of Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream and a touch of a favored Odacité serum create a well-moisturised starting point for Hadid’s cocktail of foundations and concealers, selected to create a dewy base. Like moisturiser, lip balm is also applied at the start, the better to prep her pout for coming products.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow Face Primer and Hollywood Flawless Filter are blended by hand for better absorption, followed by Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless Liquid Foundation, concealer dabbed over areas that call for extra coverage. “I like to let concealer sit for a bit,” says Hadid, who begins work on her brows to allow this. A brushed brow is filled in with a pencil and kept in place with Patrick Ta Major Brow Shaping Wax. After a dusting of powder comes bronzer, which Hadid uses as a contour pulled along her jawline, the “3’s,” and her nose in an arrow shape that finishes at the tip. “One person who will not go on the runway without touching her own face is Joan Smalls; she taught me to bring my own concealer, and she taught me that no one looks out for you the way that you look out for you,” says Hadid. “And we’re really not supposed to do this as models because we are employees—we show up to work, we get our make-up done exactly how we’re supposed to look—but sometimes you don’t always look that cute! So, we hide in the bathroom, and what we are doing is contouring ourselves…you add little things to yourself that make you feel confident.”
Tawny orange eyeshadow is applied to Hadid’s specifications, arched beneath the brow bone, pulled down from the brow, and then blended beneath the eyes. Upper and lower lashes are offered swipes of mascara, and a swirl of Stila blush plays well with a generous pop of highlighter. And as for those well-prepped lips? A quick balm blot followed by lip liner, a shimmering lipstick, and a glass swipe of Maybelline Lifter Gloss With Hyaluronic Acid. With that, a high-impact look is born.
“I’m not a pro, I’m only coming on my fourth month of new mumhood, but I would just say that we should all try to focus on taking time for ourselves,” says Hadid. “So just remind yourself that you’re doing the best you can, you’re doing amazing, and to just give yourself grace. And if you brushed your hair this week, I’m really proud of you.”
