With the month of fashion racing towards its culmination, the Paris fashion week schedule forges ahead with the reveal of the Givenchy spring/summer 2024 show. Denizens of the sartorial world eagerly anticipate the tenets of French fashion houses and their latest endeavours, and Givenchy is no exception. The brand’s recent fall/winter 2023 show saw recurring elements from its menswear collection imbued as fresh perspectives in the house’s womenswear.
Structured black tailoring punctuated with pleats opened the fall/winter runway before pivoting into monochromatic looks composed of deconstructed layers of distressed leathers, knits and patterns. A black gathered tulle dress with a corset front closed the show, crafted from the couture atelier. Dashes of inspiration from the house’s archives were evident in selected pieces, with the green silk dress in floral and fish prints originally sketched by the couturier in particular.
As audiences await how the marriage of Matthew M. Williams’s penchant for streetwear and the house’s principle for classicism will continue, expect to also see famed attendees like Seventeen’s Xu Minghao as well as house ambassadors like Big Bang’s Taeyang, Japanese model Nanao and Chinese artist Yu Shuxin at front row.
Tune in below to the livestream of the Givenchy spring/summer 2024 show on Thursday, 28 September at 9.30pm Singapore time.
