With London Fashion Week officially done and dusted, all eyes shift over to the buzzy city of Milan. With a star-studded lineup of some of fashion’s biggest powerhouses, the excitement was palpable. Fendi kicked things off with a bang, with looks that took inspiration from Karl Lagerfeld’s vision of the Fendi woman. Unbridled femininity at the core of it all, the striking knitwear and statement accessories was emphatically Kim Jones at his best. Diesel followed suit, presenting a collection filled with heavy distressing and sheer garbs—heavily referencing rave culture—under the pouring rain. The second day saw Max Mara’s utilitarian take on luxury clothing, as well as Prada’s subliminal homage to travel and Mario Prada, Miuccia Prada’s grandfather.
Off the runway, it seems bold prints and iconography were the talk of the town. Graphic T-shirts, floral-printed dresses and acid-washed denim pervaded the streets. Tailored outerwear made its usual appearance in the form of pinstriped blazers and leather trench coats, albeit styled more casually and paired with subversive separates. Warmer shades in scarlet red and sunflower yellow embraced the summer weather, while monochromatic ensembles proved that fashion celebrates style over comfort. On the accessories front, micro handbags were a plenty while pointy kitten heels and statement boots rounded off most of the outfits.
