With Milan fashion week done and dusted, all eyes flock over to the Paris for the final leg of the fall/winter 2023 season. The high-octane enthusiasm that carried over from earlier fashion weeks are still prevalent; and if the earlier shows were any indication of what’s to come, fashion fans are in for a treat.
Dior and Saint Laurent kicked off the Paris fall/winter 2023 fashion week with a bang, each presenting strong showings that were both classic and timeless. Maria Grazia Chiuri continued down the path of paying homage to femininity, looking to liberated French women such as Catherine Dior, Édith Piaf and Juliette Gréco for inspiration. The pieces were wearable, but contemporary with perfect balance and flawless execution. Anthony Vaccerello’s collection shared similar sentiments, a touch of elegance shrouded in sensuality and mystique. Impeccable tailoring from blazers with robust shoulders to pliable leather bomber jackets were the statements on the runway, layered over effortless basics and bold accessories.
Out on the streets, show attendees have gathered once again in their show-stopping ensembles. Fur coats and puffer jackets were seen on many, in shades of black, grey and tan. Many donned voluminous scarves and statement jewellery, the perfect way to stay cosy while remaining stylish. Bold sunglasses continued to be everyone’s cup of tea, with angular eyewear possessing that extra pizzazz that completed an outfit. A variety of It-bags—such as the Dior Saddle and the Prada mini hobo—proved to be accessories suitable for all occasions.
