The fashion capital of the world beckons again, as the final stop of the spring/summer 2027 season. The shows on the roster include fashion’s most well-known names—Yves Saint Laurent, Schiaparelli and Hermès are only three of many. Take Matières Fécales, the brand that has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues. Matières Fécales claimed the Place de la République for the first time ever to show a collection inspired by co-designer Steven Raj Bhaskaran’s childhood community, Jonathan Anderson welcomed a buzzy front row to the Dior show as always, and Anthony Vaccarello glazed his runway show in gold.
The street style crowd has only matched the brand’s audacious energy. Wearability has taken a bit of a backseat and the weird and wonderful have been ushered in instead. Donning light layers underneath, the focal point of many an outfit has been a bold coat, with animal prints, fabulous textures, and voluminous shapes taking centre stage. Rain and cloud have been forecasted for the week ahead, and it is perhaps in retaliation that the streets have seen plenty of colour around. From bright oranges and luscious pinks to silky blues and greens, the colour wheel is in full spin. And if there’s any better way to accessorise besides eclectic, we’ll wait. Beaded necklaces and chunky belts aside, fashion has stepped beyond all that is traditionally wearable—electronic gadgets and paper pages have found themselves on skirts while bold head and body pieces have formed the otherworldly elements of looks.
