Carré. Leather. Silk. The aforementioned aren’t exactly the first things you would associate with a workout, but in the imaginative and whimsical space of Hermès, anything is pretty much possible. After all, the term fitness has long evolved from restrictive avenues of sports—where only high-intensity workouts and marathons could be permissible. At HermèsFit gym—an ongoing pop-up that has been making pitstops all around the globe—the worlds of fitness and the house’s archival pieces amiably collide.
Clad in the signature bright Hermès orange and peppered with graphic motifs on the walls, this bespoke gym that has now landed in Singapore is the ultimate playground to explore. Think special themed rooms for complimentary scheduled workout classes, a weights wall decked with custom Hermès barbells and kettlebells, a silk-inspired calisthenics area and a chic boxing ring ideal for a quick snap on ‘Gram.
While gym junkies might be used to the mechanics of typical workouts, when fashioned with Hermès, a Carré Yoga session is interpreted with scarf-inspired poses—transpired from the house’s iconic cashmere shawl. In a HIIT class here, Hermès shoes are your weights and a ballet class is levelled up with your arms weighed down with their bracelets. Then, there’s the novelty in other newfangled classes to train and stimulate your core—Hat Balance, to keep more than one hat on and Small Leather Goods Workout, involving Kelly wallets and other products that could very well be on your shopping wishlist. All of the above, orchestrated by friendly trainers fitted out in orange.
Those seeking a post-workout respite can head over to the juice bar or stick around to watch live performances at the boxing ring. Come with your best mates and even make the most out of the vibrant Ping-Pong table layered with silk motifs.
Going by the effervescent spirit of Hermès, it brings to mind an important mantra: fitness shouldn’t be measured by the amount of calories you burn or how exhausted you feel after a class, it should be about having fun while on the move. Of course, looking spiffy in the process wouldn’t hurt as well.
HermèsFit will be open from 14 April to 23 April at 16 Orchard Rd, from 11am-8pm.
