Gucci names IU as theri new global ambassador
After making waves at the Cannes Film Festival, Korean superstar IU will be joining the likes of Harry Styles and ‘Squid Game’ star Lee Jung-jae as Gucci’s new global brand ambassador. Having earned herself an impressive 12-minute long standing ovation after the premiere of ‘Broker’, IU walked down the red carpet in an elegant sage green dress with sequin detailing and crystal embellishments by the house. While the star has previously been closely affiliated with Gucci, this announcement by the Maison marks the beginning of a new chapter with IU and the fashion powerhouse.

Prada launches NFTs
After an experimental collaborative NFT drop with Adidas, Prada has finally dropped a solo NFT release as part of their ongoing Timecapsule initiative. The latest Timecapsule collection consists of 100 gender-neutral shirts designed in collaboration artist Cassius Hirst, best known for his work spray-painting Nike Air Force 1s. Each shirt purchase is accompanied by a unique serial number which unlocks an NFT piece in the Pradaverse. Going all-in with their NFT strategy, Prada has also launched a new community Discord server—’Prada Crypted’, which will give members access to exclusive benefits and experiences.

Puma tops the rank for most sustainable brand
In the 2022 Business of Fashion Sustainability Index, Puma was ranked first among 30 of the fashion industry’s largest publicly traded companies—beating out other giants like LVMH, Kering, PVH, and Richemont. The sustainability index is based on data from 6 impact categories; transparency, emissions, water & chemicals, waste, materials, and workers’s rights. Although Puma has taken the top spot among the biggest brands in the world, it’s important to note that not a single company managed to score more than 49 out of 100 points. Which does still mean that brands have a long way to go when it comes to being truly sustainable.

Eileen Gu announced as LVMH Prize ambassador
Olympic skier and fashion darling Eileen Gu was announced as the LVMH Prize ambassador just one day before the prize ceremony, which took place in Paris on the 2nd of June. “It is so inspiring as a young person to be among all the established jurors to see the behind-the-scenes and inspire the next generation,” Gu shared during a press conference. The gold medallist was joined by award-winning actress Cate Blanchett, who presented the esteemed top prize to 25-year-old Steven Stokey Daley, a British designer based in London who founded S.S Daley. Daley will be receiving a €300,000 endowment, along with a one-year long mentorship from a team of LVMH experts. During the event, Eileen presented the Lagerfeld Karl Prizes to two winners, American designers Eli Russell Linnetz and Idris Balogun.
