Something Wicked this way comes. The film’s press tour is officially in high gear and, with it, a stream of fantastical fashion and sartorial nods to the land of Oz.
It’s safe to say that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s schedules are busier than most these days. Given that the two both lead Jon M. Chu’s stage-to-screen adaptation of Wicked, with Grande playing the role of Glinda the Good, and Erivo starring opposite as Elphaba. And as with any proper media phenomenon, both actresses now find themselves as part of a red carpet MO, as seen on the likes of Zendaya and Margot Robbie: method dressing.

As early as the 2024 Academy Awards in March, Grande and Elphaba stepped out in their character’s signature pink and green hues respectively. They have since doubled down on their commitment, with the actresses rarely (if ever) switching the colours out for others. Decked out in commissioned customs by Louis Vuitton, Thom Browne, Versace and more, the Wicked pair has attended award shows, conventions, press tour runs, and red carpets while promoting the film.

For one, Grande has been more than dressing like her ultimate “dream role”. Since news broke of her successful casting as Glinda, the self-professed theatre nerd has been outfitted in themed looks designed in her character’s signature colour: blush pink. There’s tulle and flared skirts, ladylike corsets from Vivienne Westwood Couture, full-on fairytale princess gowns courtesy of Atelier Versace, and the occasional ribbons and bows. Thanks to her stylist Mimi Cuttrell, Grande has also been breaking out on-the-nose references to the original Wicked production, such as her Los Angeles premiere gown that was reminiscent of Dorothy’s iconic gingham dress.
Meanwhile, Erivo, supported by stylist Jason Bolden, has well been embracing her character’s signature green too. The Emmy-, Grammy- and Tony-winning powerhouse has worn every shade of green under the sun, from emerald go-go boots at CinemaCon 2024 to the neon retina-burning Louis Vuitton look she rocked at the film’s Los Angeles premiere. Erivo’s modern reinterpretation of the Wicked Witch of the West is further asserted through surrealist silhouettes, extravagant jewellery, and, of course, major nail bling that the actress is so notorious for.
Below, Vogue Singapore takes a look at all the glamorously Wicked fashion that we’ve seen so far from the mighty duo.
