Tonight, the 96th annual Academy Awards will cap off awards season at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The 2024 Oscars are being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel—his second consecutive year and fourth overall turn as host. It’s a particularly stacked year, with Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, American Fiction, and The Holdovers all up for best picture.
Oppenheimer leads the night with an impressive 13 nominations. Poor Things follows with 11, and Killers of the Flower Moon with 10.
The acting categories are just as gripping, with Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Bradley Cooper, Robert Downey Jr., Colman Domingo, America Ferrera, and Carey Mulligan among nominees.
We can expect an exciting night, from Ryan Gosling’s performance of “I’m Just Ken,” to Amelia Dimoldenberg’s signature red carpet interview awkwardness. On the fashion front, Oscar attendees usually stick to classic glamour, but that hasn’t stopped stars from turning out some truly jaw-dropping looks. Who can forget Angelina Jolie’s leg slit, Marion Cotillard’s scalloped Jean Paul Gaultier, or Lupita Nyong’o’s baby blue Prada?
