Haute couture week is upon us. This means we can look forward to another round of buzzworthy, opulent fall/winter collections from all our favourite maisons. Kicking off day one in Paris, all eyes were on Schiaparelli after last season’s fascinating Dante-inspired looks—one might remember the faux wolf, lion, and snow leopard heads on the shoulders of Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk, Shalom Harlow (and Kylie Jenner in the front row) that caused quite the stir. Schiaparelli also made headlines earlier this year for sheathing Doja Cat head to toe in 30,000 red Swarovski crystals for its spring 2023 couture fashion show.
This season, attendees are anticipating more of the house’s vivid imagination and innovative creative direction—and with the house teasing gems, beads, and gold galore on its Instagram. Following that, Iris Van Herpen‘s highly anticipated couture collection took to the runway after a breathtaking spring/summer 2023 collection that featured intricate, mermaid-esque designs that beautifully married art and technology. The rest of the day also showcased the works of Julie de Libran, Georges Hobeika and Dior—rounding up an eventful start for haute couture week in the City of Light.
Needless to say, we can look forward to an endless stream of eye-catching ensembles not just on the runway, but on the streets too. From a slew of Barbiecore pink outfits to edgy hooded gowns spotted on day one, guests have come prepared to serve us sartorial inspiration with each show.
