The Alice band
Is it possible that Jack Grealish and his hair accessory of choice featured on Mrs Prada and Raf Simons’s spring/summer 2024 moodboard? If Prada’s menswear collection was an exploration of silhouette, then the undulating black Alice bands that secured models’ hair mirrored the curvaceous lines seen on the catwalk—all the way down to the wavy patent loafers. The sailor hat
Charles Jeffrey Loverboy’s spring/summer 2024 collection was a romp through Restoration fashion, but revised for 2023, and flitted somewhere between the seven seas and a sports hall. Cue an ocean’s worth of nautical accessories that included his signature sailor’s hat, imagined in abstract squiggle prints and sequins. The Y2K cap
As demonstrated by Hailey Bieber, Elle Fanning and Kendall Jenner, the baseball cap is still the headgear of choice for A-listers on holiday. Martine Rose concurs. Her spring/summer 2024 vision merged mundane sportswear tropes, like distressed caps and shell suits, with more “stately” womenswear shapes, from corsets to pearl necklaces.

For the Roman brand’s spring/summer 2024 show as guest brand at Pitti Uomo, models were sent down a catwalk located in its new leather goods factory in Bagno a Ripoli, ready for a day at the office carrying a caffeine pick-me-up in a travel cup. Channel the same sense of sprezzatura next time you head to your own nine-to-five.
The aviators
At British Vogue HQ, acting European fashion features director Julia Hobbs is advocating for an ironic aviator as the sunglasses silhouette of the summer. Cue a corny Tom Cruise in Top Gun… or the models on the Saint Laurent catwalk in Berlin, strutting in ultra-louche, slick and sensual silhouettes, all paired with retro shades.
