Ahead of the Dior fall/winter 2023 haute couture show tonight, all eyes are on creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. The spring/summer 2023 haute couture collection earlier in January saw Chiuri pay homage to the celebrated French dancer Josephine Baker. Presented on the runway were midi suits reminiscent of the iconic bar jacket, structured corset tops and elegant off-the-shoulder maxi dresses that provided a reimagined take on the classic ballgown. The whole collection was minimal yet impeccable, and boasted an air of subtle opulence and understated style, perfect for the modern Dior woman.
This season, expect nothing short of feminine individuality and empowerment as an overarching theme surrounding the collection. While much is still under wraps, the maison has just released a teaser clip featuring prolific Italian philosopher Adriana Caverero, whose renowned for her writings on feminism and theories of sexual difference. Below, Caverero shares a little about female narratives in ancient methodology, perhaps hinting towards what Chiuri has in store for the audience.
