The penultimate Fashion Week of the ‘Big Four’ fashion capitals (now under way: Paris), Milan Fashion Week spring/summer 2023 came to a close on September 26. Even among the other Fashion Weeks, Milan is known for leading the pack with regards to the elaborateness of their runway designs. And fortunately, such flair also extends to the Milan Fashion Week beauty moments on offer.
Such was certainly the case this season. Fit for any belladonna, bombshell make-up looks with a red lip as their focal point were ubiquitous. Notable examples included the full face created by make-up artist Kabuki for Moschino, with slicked back hair and whimsical headgear creating the perfect backdrop for black-rimmed eyes and a lacquered pout. Also at Ferrari, a strikingly vivid shade of scarlet on the lips drew all eyes, paired with wet look hair that has remained a runway mainstay throughout this season.
Veering away from the classic and into more abstract concepts, atypical splashes of colour were also a trend. On Etro’s runways, we saw splashes of shades including powder blue and saffron yellow washed across the face. A cyber-esque version in silver was worn under the eyes at Andreadamo, with a sheerer metallic dusting even adorning hands at Sportmax.
And of course, observable were two of the most trending nail looks of the moment—see: the chocolate manicure at MSGM and futuristic chrome nails at Trussardi.
