The past few weeks have seen hoards of sartorial crowds sift in and out of the world’s biggest fashion capitals—from New York to London, and most recently, Milan. After all, the biggest luxury houses have been preparing themselves for their stage: presenting their spring/summer 2023 collections on the scintillating runway. The Italian fashion capital has seen a cacophonous display of creative direction, where industry heavyweights test the waters and attempt to forge new ground for themselves. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons handed over part of their autonomy to Nicolas Winding Refn, the artistic director behind Ryan Gosling’s Drive, to reimagine a set crafted out of paper. Just yesterday, Dolce&Gabbana debuted ‘Ciao, Kim’, their feature collaboration with none other than Kim Kardashian, who held a curator role over the high fashion brand’s collection.
But whilst the runway gives us a glimpse into the most brilliant fashion minds of the world, perhaps we might also seek sartorial inspiration elsewhere—from the crowds of invitees and showgoers themselves. Whilst New York took on an exciting slate of shows and presentations that welcomed nearly every supermodel in town, the Milan Fashion Week sets its scene very clearly: with the individual maisons sending out invites to even more of their favourite stars and personalities from across the globe.
And so the A-listers started emerging on the streets of the Italian fashion capital—just outside the slated schedules of each day—and they were dressed to impress. The front row saw seats reserved for the likes of Victoria’s Secret Angels Heidi Klum and Alessandra Ambrosio, quite literally bringing the fun to the party at Moschino whilst Prada saw actresses Letitia Wright and Hunter Schafer occupy their spots amongst the audience. Many aplenty also made sure to invite their global house ambassadors and representatives, bringing to Milan a very welcome bevy of South Korean stars, from the girls of Twice and GOT7’s Yugyeom to Kim Tae-ri and IU.
