The New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2023 shows were always going to be noteworthy. It inaugurates the season’s most prominent Fashion Weeks (next up: London, Paris and Milan), while setting the tone for the high-octane glamour that is to come. With an especially heightened dose of fanfare surrounding NYFW this season, it was fittingly reflected by the standout NYFW beauty looks on offer from the runways.
Vogue World brought us dialled up glamour courtesy of metallic masks and stiletto nails. A similarly celebratory spirit could be seen through the creativity of designers’ hair and make-up concepts. While certain looks stand the test of runway time—think wet look hair, clean skin and of-the-moment graphic blue eyeshadow—there was many a dazzling, fresh take on trending beauty. Among our favourites: butterfly facial appliqués at Puppets and Puppets, refreshed iterations of ribbons in hair by Sandy Liang and Deity, and embellished eyebrows at Peter Do.
As the first Fashion Week from the four biggest fashion capitals, NYFW is keenly watched for indications of seasonal beauty trends to follow. And if the expressive NYFW beauty looks this season are anything to go by, we can only expect more sumptuous styles from manes to manicures around the corner.
