Last year marked the 100-year anniversary of Loro Piana. And this year, the celebration continues. The Italian brand, renowned for their exceptional textiles and stealth wealth sensibilities has in recent years seen its popularity sky rocket thanks to the rise of the quiet luxury trend. Fashion however is fickle and no one is immune to the pressures of the industry’s desire for novelty. How then does a heritage brand evolve and adapt effectively without losing its core values? For the spring/summer 2025 season, Loro Piana celebrates what it is best known for—textile innovation. The key twist? A shift away from the wools and cashmeres that have become their hallmarks. Instead, the brand explores an essential summer staple, linen, in a collection that balances expected classicism with surprisingly trendier touches.

In sticking with tradition and what has served them best for a century, textile savoir faire remains at the heart of Loro Piana’s spring/summer 2025 collection with linen being the starting point. The brand acquired Solbiati, a linen specialist with 150 years of history, a decade ago and has tapped on their rich archives and mastery of the textile. As a result, linen is explored in a myriad of ways, blended with Sopra Visso wool, cashmere, silk and even banana leaf fiber to create interesting textures in shades of earthy browns and neutrals, with flashes of burnt red, yellows, seafoam green and pale pink.

The usual Loro Piana classics are there. Tailored suits and separates are soft, unfussy and timeless as per what we have come to expect. House signatures, including the Spagna jacket and Traveller field jacket are reinterpreted for the season, featuring subtle design updates—mandarin collars on the former and a pecan brown colored variation for the latter in leather. There are plenty of modest, lady-like ensembles as well. Think knee-length pleated skirts with matching blouses and outerwear options.

But the collection feels lighter and more adventurous, echoing the general optimism of the spring/summer 2025 season. A sheer brown bohemian blouse with a coordinating vest and skirt is a standout look. And coincidentally, in line with the rise of the boho trend.

Other standouts include a butter yellow minidress from the eveningwear collection covered in over 30,000 fabric paillettes, styled with a matching bucket hat and Bale bag. It’s an exuberant look that feels at odds with the discrete chic one would typically associate with Loro Piana. But it is also a welcome sign that the brand is looking to offer options beyond its quiet luxury typecast as the trend dies down, and appeal to a younger audience. Case in point, the boxer short styles towards the middle of the collection.

The accessories this season are key in keeping the collection younger and more approachable. In continuation of the seasons prior, there are plenty of hat options, ranging from stricter pillbox styles to more modern and quirky beanie and bucket hat varieties.

Scarves also play an important role and are used throughout the collection from being tied around the neck to being repurposed as a bag. New accessory styles with more contemporary appeal have also been introduced for the season, including the Ghiera Shopper tote, Extra drawstring backpack, Alba mule and Sergio loafers.
Loro Piana’s spring/summer 2025 collection is now available in stores at ION Orchard and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
