When one thinks of unparalleled quality and craftsmanship within fashion, the brand Loro Piana certainly comes to mind. Founded in 1924, the Italian heritage house is best known for its exquisite cashmere and fine wool products, sourced from elusive regions in Mongolia, New Zealand and the Andes. Combine that with an emphasis on sustainability and ethical practices in recent years, and it is no surprise that the brand is deeply beloved by the prestigious and affluent around the world. It has also become the gold standard for luxury in fashion.

In line with its 100th anniversary, Loro Piana has just released a coffee-table book, Master of Fibres, in November. Published by renowned luxury books publisher and lifestyle company Assouline, the hardcover book features 196 pages and 150 illustrations charting the legacy of the Loro Piana family and their business over the course of the century.
Hand-binded using traditional techniques and encased in a sturdy clamshell exterior wrapped in signature Tela Sergio fabric—an elegant and exclusive cotton-linen blend developed by the maison—it is a testament to the house’s savoir-faire and a reflection of the rich sensorial qualities and acute attention to detail that is present in all their products.
Compiled and reported by acclaimed English author, historian and journalist Nicholas Foulkes, the book features several extensive interviews with various members of the Loro Piana family, including quotes and stories documented over the century. From the passport granted to wool merchant Giovanni Loro Piana in the mid-1800s to its current-day reign as a leader in textile excellence and innovation, the book aims to take readers on a trip down sentimental memory lane, further spotlighting highlighting key moments in the maison’s history through collages of original photographs and historical documents taken from the house’s archives.

The finished product is a tale of excellence and passion for the extraordinary, passed down over six generations of creative visionaries and entrepreneurs. It is a window into the house’s century old history and its countless milestones to date, and truly a story for the ages. for the one for the ages, and one for the ages.
