Fashion’s recent return to corporate wear—à la power suiting and 2024’s office siren segue—has been a surefire joy for trouser enthusiasts. Slowly but surely, a littering of cuts so precise in their make were seen at every step of the way, and they weren’t just a uniform one wore to the boardroom. Celebrities appeared sleek and chic in elevated iterations on the red carpet; designers were putting forth multitudes of propositions to choose from; and the street set was emboldened to champion it all. From Jonathan Anderson’s high-waists at Loewe’s spring/summer 2024 show to Anthony Vaccarello’s ’80s rolodex for Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2025, it’s been a terrific year to chance upon one’s perfect pair of pants.
Even then, your sartorial choosings run the gamut. Silhouettes might range from the classic wide-legs to tapered options that still feel relaxed. Some will adore a good detail, be it in its pleating, belt loops or leg cuffs. Then there are those who’ve got a razor-sharp focus on its materiality—and hence transitional quality—from weighted wool blends to lightweight viscose or linen blend alternatives.

After all, the search for that perfect pair of tailored trousers is a dedicated cause of its own. A pant so precise in its measure that every wear is a delight to behold. Perhaps some might be on the hunt for the exacting sort of suiting one would expect from The Row, and worn on the likes of Jennifer Lawrence or Victoria Beckham. Meanwhile, others might be shifting gears towards louche, slouchy silhouettes—surely invigorated by that Saint Laurent show—and leaning towards the oversized allure of pairs we’ve since seen on Rosé and Hailey Bieber. Then, there are the formidable high-street options from cult brands such as Cos, Arket and The Frankie Shop—all of which have already earned loyalists of their own.
So back to the boardroom or not, here we go. As we emerge from those blissful few weeks of holiday cheer and utter reverie, a Vogue-approved shortlist of tailored trousers that will soon be a cornerstone of your every outfit. For your 9 to 5, 5 to 9 and every hour in between.
