10-word show review: A rave in the desert with constructed classics.
Designer: Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski
Location: Tennis Club de Paris
The vision: The Hermès woman gets outdoorsy for spring/summer 2023. Well, she’s set her sights on a technicoloured dune in the desert for a luxurious hiking trip. And her clothing, inspired by creative director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s close study of technical gear, is set to take her through various types of terrains.
Signature silhouettes: As far as themes go, Vanhee-Cybulski’s study of various hiking destinations allowed for a palette that lent from deep oranges, to sultry browns and deep reds. This was a signifier of newfound freedom after the pandemic which was expressed through more than just colour at the Hermès show. If one were to look closer, they’d notice Vanhee-Cybulski’s technical finesse: dresses subtly lined with airy mesh, double-lined hoodies and beautiful leather sandals.
A style tip for Singapore: Deserts and islands don’t have much in common save for the warm weather, but when it comes to tropic-friendly pieces, there are a few one can consider from the Hermès show. For one, the deep brown, panelled minidress (Look 9) proves a casual yet dressy option for the off-duty fashion lover; breezy jumpsuits in peach and orange (Looks 28 and 31) proved the perfect option for a day at the beach and for the woman defying the weather, sumptuous leather black dresses (Look 57).
