10-word show review: Intricate and sumptuous leather creations for the eco-conscious customer.

The vision: Circular fashion remains a fervent focal point for Gabriela Hearst and even more so now that she is creative director of one of the world’s most prominent luxury brands. Prior her appointment to Chloé in 2020, Hearst has been vocal about cutting back on waste in the fashion industry, and her spring/summer 2023 showing for the brand was no exception. The sentiment was driven home with circular hoops suspended from the ceiling and perhaps more immersive of the two, a circular seating plan.
Signature silhouettes: Modelled by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Paloma Elsesser and Adwoa Aboah, ease was central to Hearst’s vision. It was echoed in the audience of her show too, through the “if you know you know” insouciance of Chloé girls, from Katie Holmes to Sandara Park. The mood of the collection proved to be a little lighter than the brand’s usual fare, from Hadid’s metallic netted dress to the denim-on-denim pairing of Look 24. Buttery leather designs—from motorcycle jackets laced with stitching to trousers dented with hoops—took many forms, but remained relentless in a unified vision of languid relaxedness.
What to shop from the collection: Upon seeing it for the very first time, that too on some of the industry’s buzziest supermodels, there was an immediate draw to the dresses of the season—some in head-to-toe sequins and others in metallics. While the latter is realistically wearable in our sunny climate, the ardent Chloé fan is bound to be taken by the novelty of the collection’s jackets. Throw in the chunky, knitted white bags and recyclable plastic platforms—both in black and white—and you’ve got yourself a full deck of very fashionable cards.
