What does the Hermès woman represent? It’s a question that perhaps, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski has always sought to answer throughout her tenure at the helm of the house. For the house’s spring/summer 2023 show, she sent out an elite sense of dynamism out on the runway—expressed through technical gear primed for the outdoors. Therefore painting an image of freedom and mobility; where well-made clothes became the very means by which the modern Hermès woman can embark on an exploration of her various scapes.
With the maison’s fall/winter 2023 collection set to show later today in Paris, one can only speculate as to what we might see on the runway. Yet should previous collections serve as discerning clues, there is most definitely a sense of female strength—propelled by the house’s defining note of exceptional craftsmanship—that will ring through. Heritaged references to the equestrian might also sit amidst more artful proportions and It-accessories. And according to a pre-released teaser on the house’s Instagram, a strong palette of warm oranges and muted reds could potentially be delivered—through its signatures or other functional pieces. Perhaps those who have followed the house’s creations might also be holding out in anticipation for more reinterpretations of its loved classics.
