In the Milan fashion week circuit, fashion industry stalwart Giorgio Armani presents collections that are an experience. Typically, Armani is known to host two slots for his much-anticipated shows. For spring/summer 2024, the fashion designer decided to host three showstopping displays due to popular demand. Titled Vibes, the 60-look line up was an homage to everything ardent fashion lovers have come to love the Italian brand for: dramatic flair, vibrancy and the melding of equal parts wearable yet unforgettable designs. “Coherent and continuous by definition, the Giorgio Armani vision refracts and mutates as though passing through a prism. It looks different yet remains unchanged, revealing the vibrations at the source of it all,” shares the brand.
For a starting point, Armani referenced colours, sensations and feelings. This manifested in the form of a gentle gradient, starting with the collection’s more muted and subdued offerings: bronze tailored jackets, creped cardigans and flowing blouses. Then came a waft of brilliant blues and greens: soft suits cinched at the waist, silky soft knee-grazing summer coats and sparkling midnight skirts. And finally, a breathtaking offering of pretty pastels, immortalised in baby pink: sheer shirts, cocooned skirts and candyfloss tulle. It’s no secret that Armani’s domain is that of eveningwear and this line up in particular, was no exception. Hitting this point home was his choice of accessories: large, chunky bracelets adorned on both wrists; hard, disc-like pouches; orb-like statement necklaces and buttery soft leather bags with almost rope-like brass straps. The standout accessory? A glittering crystal-embellished belt, knotted across its wearers waist like a precious ornament.
The beauty direction seamlessly tied in the undulating, almost wave-like mood of the show. Inspired by the ’20s, models sported finger waves, striking eyeshadow and lightened brows, with just a hint of blush swept across their cheeks. As for the season’s hottest runway trends?
