H&M’s most recent fashion collection sees them collaborating with an industry favourite. Introducing Rokh, a South Korean label that was established in 2016. Founded by Central Saint Martins graduate Rok Hwang, the brand has always leaned towards highly wearable garments with a playful twist.

How does Hwang express the element of fun in this collection? Instead of utilising loud prints or larger-than-life silhouettes (which can be expected when one thinks of the idea of ‘fun clothes’), he subverts ’80s office power-dressing silhouettes with modularity as his main mode of playfulness. Enabling this quality are customisable button fastenings and hook-and-eye trims intentionally inserted into every piece, providing anyone who owns a piece free reign to style it in multiple ways.

One such piece from the women’s collection is the double layered trench coat, which has layers of two different shades of camel. Statement but still chic, the piece is a stellar example of Rokh’s garments morphing into different iterations of itself depending on who owns them. “To see my clothes being worn in brilliantly unique ways I never imagined while I was designing them is one of my greatest pleasures. I can’t wait to see how customers engage with this fun and dynamic collection for H&M,” stated Hwang in a press release for the collection.

Evocative of summer, the collection also features an array of floral printed ensembles—which includes the likes of a scoop neck top, maxi skirt, gloves and stockings—as well as statement hybridised jewellery that utilises both gold and silver tones.

Veneered leather is used prominently within the collection for both menswear and womenswear, be it trench coats, blazers, cropped jackets, or shorts. A standout fit for men to cop? The collection’s versatile modular leather blazer and double-waisted leather shorts, which is a timeless pairing for practically any occasion.
