When a historic Italian fashion house, a prolific fashion designer and a pop culture phenomenon come together, you can only expect one thing: absolute anticipation. Not to fret, however, because you won’t have to wait much longer. Kim Kardashian West’s underwear, loungewear and shapewear brand Skims has joined forces with Fendi under the creative direction of Kim Jones—and us here in Singapore can get a first look early at Fendi’s Ion Orchard store. It’s one of four pre-launch locations worldwide, the rest being London, Tokyo and Dubai.
Those who have come to love and appreciate Skims for its everyday sensibilities won’t be disappointed. Designed to bring together both Fendi’s and Skims’ unique aesthetics, fans can expect a seamless melding of both worlds from athleisure to formal wear. Think: form-fitting velvet bodysuits, sleek leather dresses, Fendi x Skims logo-emblazoned hosiery, as well as beach and shapewear. The drop also takes cues from a Karl Lagerfeld collection launched in 1979, which featured elements such as sashes, tube tops and bright colours.
While both brands are also known for their use of taupes, nudes and browns, expect a bold pop of fuchsia pink, alongside hues like coral and deep olive. Topping the collection off are well-loved accessories from Fendi, such as the Peekaboo, Baguette and Sunshine Shopper bags as well as Fendi’s first heel and newly-debuted shearling sandals.
In a press release for the collaboration, Jones shares: “My Fendi is about creating something for every woman, every different shape—and that’s something at the heart of Skims too.” Adds Kim Kardashian West: “The innovation in fabrics and fit typical to Skims paired with the luxury and quality of Fendi may feel unexpected to some people, but the similarities between our creative vision and goals are so closely aligned. It’s that tension that excites me.”
The Fendi x Skims collection pre-launches on 2 November at ION Orchard and will be available to shop globally on 9 November, 9pm SGT on www.fendiskims.com and at selected Fendi stores and retailers.
