Chance encounters don’t come around all that often, but we’ll say Chung Ha’s fans are on the cusp of striking gold. It’s been almost two years since the South Korean soloist released any new music since the album Bare & Rare Pt.1—and if you’re even a little familiar with the K-pop industry, you’d know that this particular career hiatus might have just started to feel a tad too long. Especially when it’s coming from one of the decade’s most revered soloists, responsible for some of the most irresistible dance grooves in the industry. Traipse through any street in Seoul today, and chances are, you’d find her chart-topping hits on the playlist, from ‘Gotta Go’ to ‘Rollercoaster’ and ‘Killing Me’. But if we’re talking fresh tunes? Then Chung Ha proves she’s ready to come back swinging, returning with two banging singles: ‘I’m Ready’ and ‘Eenie Meenie’.
Whilst ‘I’m Ready’ is ultimately a nod to her satisfyingly addictive dance-led tunes, the recent drop is no doubt led by ‘Eenie Meenie’. Featuring ATEEZ’s Hongjoong on those smooth rap bars, the track stands as a swerve away from her usual dance pop territory, and has a little more hip-hop snazz to it. But for the Korean soloist who has been biding her time before her return, it’s almost certain that this only marks a new experimental era for her.
Yet in a single watch of its accompanying music video, it’s clear that some things—like her killer dance moves and undeniably charismatic presence—have prevailed. Sharp choreography and an off-kilter beat aside, the MV also presents itself as a goldmine of captivating beauty moments that only serve to cement her cool girl cred. Think various sets of colour-coordinated talons that put emphasis on her powerful moves to splotches of coral that sit in line with the ‘mob wife’ aesthetic of some of her outfits. See the most alluring beauty moments from Chung Ha’s ‘Eenie Meenie’ MV, below.

Fired up talons
To go with her incredibly striking coord suit, Chung Ha opted for a fierce cat eye and scarlet talons—a sharp match to her powerful dance moves.

Nerdy graffiti
She’s no office siren when she’s out on the streets but she’s certainly fired up the bespectacled look for ‘Eenie Meenie’. Cue a deliciously glossed-up pout, some extra spidery lashes and a kitschy set of graffiti nails to go with her beanie.

Sporty chic
By way of colour-coordination, nothing quite beats this particular beauty entry. With her varsity jacket thrown on, she’s got the marine hues down to a tee via those ocean-hued nails and braided blue streaks in her mane. But what’s really doing it for us is her vivaciously brightened mien, executed by her undereye blush.

The mob wife
Not all mob wives need a dirty smoky eye. Chung Ha serves nonetheless with coral-toned peepers paired with some lusciously lined lips.

Mattified mien
Cool girl energy emanates from the simplest look of the lot—which prioritises a clean, matte look mired by only an undereye liner and a blurry mauve lip. There’s no mistaking that it’s those carefree beach waves worn under the Ralph Lauren cap that’s really cementing her dancer aesthetic though.
