With another slew of fashion shows behind us, we have seen an array of displays of creativity with the runway circuit yet again. Bottega Veneta’s much more scaled back show, in comparison to its previous season that embodied a voyage around the world, was a refreshing direction for the brand with its celebration of the everyday. Hermès amalgamated the house’s equestrian origins with motorcycle culture by attaching sensibilities from both in perfect harmony. For Saint Laurent, sensuality was at the core of its showing, with barely there dresses, skirts and shirts all in abundance.
As with every season, some of the most coveted items to grace the runway are the bags. Cylinder-shaped bags were commonplace this season, with brands like Remain, Private Policy, and Sportmax all showing iterations of it. Undercover left us pleasantly surprised by taking us on its Demna-like tonality of irony with bags that emulated grocery plastic bags. Coperni showed us the future of materiality, with a bag that is composed out of 99 percent air and one percent glass. As usual, Nicolas Ghesquière’s Louis Vuitton and its presentation of bags instilled so much desire, with its mini cube-shaped trunks being a potential It bag once it hits the stores.
Kiko Kostadinov’s statement bags this season were spacious, practical and had futuristic, anatomical lines that were equal parts chic and eye-catching. JW Anderson continues to impress, with its nautical themed bags featuring rope handles with sailor knots embodying the designer’s quirky design ethos this season. Gucci provided a surprising but pleasant pop of pink in its new colourway of the Matelassé bag,
