The fall/winter 2022 presentations have largely trickled off, with luxury fashion houses gearing up for next season’s showings in September—but that’s not to say Fashion Week is completely behind us. As March drew to a close, so, it seems, did Metaverse Fashion Week; an industry-disrupting venture spearheaded by virtual real-estate platform, Decentraland. Conceptually, it doesn’t veer too far off-course from the sartorial showcases we’re used to. Think catwalks, big name designers and street style that serve as the foundation to the biggest trends and movements with the fashion sphere. Except, of course, with a less-limiting guest list, where neither clout nor reputation is required to garner access in real-time.
Stable Wi-Fi connectivity is all that was needed to enter the vast universe that is Metaverse Fashion Week, where users will be prompted to create an avatar and set up a wallet before being able to participate in the festivities of their liking. This includes donning wearables from the likes of Dolce&Gabbana as well as Etro—as seen on the fashion-forward users gracing the virtual streets of Metaverse Fashion Week. Unlike the physical iteration of Fashion Week, however, extreme and abstract pieces were on full display, with users sporting glowing wings, sculptural gowns and the like. Below, a curation of the most striking street style looks spotted throughout the four-day event.
