For someone whose net worth is a whopping 75 million US dollars, is it a little surprising that Selena Gomez didn’t deck out in precious high jewellery for her latest Vogue Singapore cover shoot? Well, yes, but also, no. Because as the singer, actor/producer, and now beauty entrepreneur reveals in our cover interview, she’s never one to compare herself with others. As she opens up about the importance of mental health and the power of a life lived authentically, let’s look at the Selena Gomez jewellery looks that tell us you don’t have to be dripping in diamonds to stand out and shine.
Case in point, our cover star looked perfectly at home in this ultra-comfy soft purple Balenciaga jacket. But with chunky gilt jewellery and accessories, Gomez made the outfit her own. Apart from her make-up which obviously comes from Rare Beauty, there was nothing predictable at all. Fashion stylist Patti Wilson went for US-based indie designers such as Paula Mendoza, Jennifer Fisher, Schiaparelli, and Sterling King, along with a vintage necklace from New York Vintage.

Next, with this Halpern monochrome jumpsuit and knee-high boots combo, Gomez looks ready for a big night—California style. And she’s got the accessories to match. Earrings and bracelets were by Australian handcrafted design studio Dinosaur Designs. Meanwhile Scandinavia label Sara Robertsson and New York-based Ariana Boussard-Reifel joined in the revelry. The latter, we heard, is a consistent favourite of Gomez as well as other A-listers from Beyonce and Gigi Hadid to Kylie Jenner, Viola Davis and Michelle Obama.

Moving on to our third look, we have Gomez in a billowing two-tone dress by Issey Miyake coupled with a pair of brown suede ankle boots. Jewellery wise, the chunky gilded theme continues, where a pair of Padlock drop earrings by Schiaparelli took the spotlight. The latter’s madcap designs continue in the form of a Varnished Nail ring that’s equal parts glamour and grotesque. These found perfect counterbalance in the form of two wrist cuffs by Ariana Boussard-Reifel.

Our golden girl really glows in this next look, dressed in a classic striped Chloé dress. The jewellery highlight here is a vintage 60s style Lanvin plated necklace that sits in striking contrast with mismatched gilt earrings by Dinosaur Designs. Another throwback to the 60s are those three solid 18K gold bombé rings by Cartier.

And nowhere did we find a greater juxtaposition within Selena Gomez jewellery looks for this cover story than this stunning close-up shot.

This Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello top with soft delicate plumes suddenly wouldn’t look out of place next to a metal studded leather jacket thanks to the masterful stacking of two statement chokers, one by Saint Laurent and the other by Bond Hardware. Completed with Swarovski earrings, Gomez’s final jewellery look leaves us doubly impressed and absolutely inspired.
