Mamma mia, how the parties have begun. The year end gatherings have gone full throttle on us all—but it’s really just beginning. Between the two gatherings on Christmas Eve, brunch and dinner plans on the 25th, plus all the late nights we’ll be having this week, the schedule just doesn’t seem to be letting up. For all the apparent reasons, there’s definite cause to be worried for your personal well-being.
After all, any semblance of a sleep schedule always seems impossible during the season. Festive feasts also mean plenty of heavy, greasy food that we can’t really avoid (being respectful to your hosts matters too). And then there’s all that imbibing we’ll be doing.
Whilst most of us would simply have to take it in our stride, it always helps to be prepared—so that you don’t go stumbling into 2026 in a disarray. But we wouldn’t be your loyal beauty advisors if we didn’t offer our services on this front, so here’s a checklist of sorts to feel energised and recover from the party season properly. All so you can have your fun, whilst keeping things in check for your body and mind. Bonne chance!
Stay hydrated
The most important tip of the lot: drink water. Lots of it. It’s your most effective cure for plenty of ailments—that, and lots of rest. But alcohol consumption means dehydration, so you’ll want to stay hydrated pre, during and post-party. Consider coconut water or some electrolytes to boost your hydration levels too.
Have a hangover prevention pill on standby
It doesn’t hurt to pop a pill like BounceBack or DrinkAid every now and then—especially if you’re not a constant overdrinker. Not only are they readily available over the counter, any help you can get to ease the next-morning effects will go the long way over the holiday period.
Up your intake of antioxidants
Antioxidants are your best friend during this period. Think plenty of proteins like chicken, eggs, lentils, or the all-time-favourite natural remedy: ginger tea, which also helps to alleviate nausea. You’ll also want to increase your magnesium intake through your foods, so here’s where your nuts, leafy greens, tofu, and varieties of fruit may come in.
Party season supplements
Alcohol consumption leads to depletion of vitamins and minerals that your body needs. Think about stocking up on supplements that boost your immunity and target specific concerns during the heavy drinking season; vitamin B to strengthen liver metabolism plus an overall energy boost; magnesium for reduced cramping and better sleep health; and milk thistle for a liver detox and better digestion.

Don’t skip the post-party cleanse
It will do a number on your skin. The gorgeous, budgeproof swathes of make-up that go on your mien prior to the evening? They need to come off—no matter how much you want to crawl into bed. Pro tip: stand by some cotton pads and make-up remover at your bedside just before you leave home. Maybe even your favourite moisturiser. You’ll thank yourself in the morning.
Mask up
In between the late nights, mask up when you can. It’s amazing what a generous dosage of hydration can do for your skin, even if it’s just 15 minutes in the morning.
Get enough rest
Needless to say, sleep is as crucial as water is. Making sure you get enough winks in will go a long way in making sure you maintain cortisol levels, boost energy and support overall immunity.
Stay active
So the debauchery happened and you’re determined to lie in bed for the rest of the day. But don’t. The counterintuitive method—aka squeezing a workout in—will do wonders for your hangover symptoms. Don’t overdo it though; a light walk or jog will improve circulation, relax muscles and help to boost endorphins in good time.
Drink in moderation
Don’t say we didn’t warn you. There’s no better cure than prevention, so know your limits and you’ll find that you can still have a good time without waking up with a debilitating headache.

Take a break after the break
Go on an actual holiday. Do a digital detox for a few days. Mentally—and physically—tap out for a bit for a few days in the new year if you have to. It doesn’t have to be right away, you could do it towards the end of January or February even, but a proper reset is due and it can’t happen if you’ve overpacked your schedule with overdue catch-ups and parties. Give your body and mind a break—you deserve it.
