The Gilded Age in America references the years between 1870 to 1900, where the country was growing at an exponential pace. Women’s fashion and jewellery trends of the time was excessive and elaborate, with ruffles, ribbons, lace, embroidery, fringes, satin, and velvet adding to the style lexicon.
Jewellery also played a huge role in every day dress as they symbolised a woman’s position in society. It’s rather like Bridgerton, but a few decades later, and across the Atlantic in the land where biscuits are called cookies and tea is known as not-coffee. Pearls, bows, chokers, tiaras, hair jewellery, and dazzling drop earrings were worn daily, and occasionally altogether, especially at glitzy social events.
As the theme of the 2022 Met Gala, Gilded Glamour gave celebrity attendees (and their stylists) a ton of ideas on how to wear jewellery—some in completely unexpected places. These are Vogue Singapore’s favourite looks of the night.

Pearls, pearls, everywhere! Dressed in top-to-toe Chanel, Maggie Rogers expertly draped a string of pearls around the waist for a touch of Gilded Glamour.

22 / 27

Anitta
We love how Anitta’s outfit and jewellery choices are so perfectly aligned.
