With New York done and dusted, London picks up the baton as the next stop of the fall/winter 2025 fashion season. The youngest of the four fashion capitals, London shines as a bastion of rising talent, countering the storied legacies of prestigious fashion houses in Europe and across the Atlantic with unparalleled innovation and verve.
It’s no surprise, then, that this season’s London Fashion Week was launched into orbit by none other than Harris Reed. Opening the show with a haunting monologue by actress and muse Florence Pugh, the subversive young designer’s new collection featured a slew of boldly theatrical black and gold pieces, from the sculptural horn-like panels that protrude from Pugh’s hooded gown to daring cut-outs and structured crinolines.
Fashion enthusiasts have plenty more to look forward to, beginning with Richard Quinn’s striking retrofuturistic glamour on Friday. Later in the week, cult-favourite Simone Rocha will make her return to the runway, with the fashion world waiting with bated breath to see how the rebellious Irish designer will top her artful dance-influenced spring/summer 2025 collection. Rounding the week out on Monday, of course, is the indispensable Burberry. One of England’s oldest and most distinguished brands, it’ll be interesting to see what creative director Daniel Lee will deliver this season.
Whilst the number of celebrity sightings at London Fashion Week tend to pale in comparison to its predecessor, it’s opportune then, to observe what the fashion connoisseurs of London—and the world—are wearing in attendance. The last few seasons saw striking hues and flamboyant patterns consistently dominating London Fashion Week’s street style, and it seems the 2025 fall/winter season is not far off. This year’s showgoers rocked up in vibrant fur coats and multi-layered ensembles, mixing and matching a variety of fabrics and prints. Playing it safe? Not a London Fashion Week thing, it seems.
