As he fast approaches his third season as artistic director of Kenzo, fashion designer Nigo continues to reinstate the vision left behind by the late Kenzo Takada. If prior showings have been anything to go by, the well-loved visionary has stayed true to his streetwear sensibilities while bringing the brand’s playful, tongue-in-cheek and casual designs to the forefront. Last season paid homage to all things retro and preppy with a subtle nod to the complexities of graduation. This came in the form of waistcoats, denim liner dresses and swing skirts.
Wondering what’s to come? Given the designer’s longstanding popularity with the likes of Pharrell Williams and the music set, we’re expecting a crossover that stays firmly rooted in the brand’s penchant for utilitarian yet hype offerings. As men’s fashion week comes to a close, Paris just might see a spike in major street cred.
