Earlier in February this year, JW Anderson was unveiled as the latest addition to the Moncler Genius roster. The highly anticipated collaboration drops in stores today, featuring a gender-neutral selection of his most career-defining pieces.
JW Anderson loyalists will recognise the revival of the Riviera hat and ruffled shorts from spring/summer 2015 which arguably cemented his subversion of gender norms we now know and love. “The technicality and straightforwardness of Moncler are fascinating to me,” said Anderson in a press statement. “A down jacket needs to respond to a function, and I kept that in mind adding my own taste for blunt abstraction.”

In true Moncler fashion, Anderson inflated archival JW Anderson pieces, adding protruded spikes and embossed dots to puffer jackets, padded scarves and zip-up blousons. The Riviera hat, in particular, takes on a new attitude just by way of inflation—who knew padding could add so much personality?
To celebrate the launch, Anderson and Moncler have also teamed up to present the collection in what is now also an Anderson trademark: the ‘Exhibition in a Box’. Limited to just 500 archive boxes, the project remains in step with his inventive adoption of the highly portable, highly tactile medium, in huge part due to the socially distant circumstances this year. Much like his other paper-based projects for Loewe and his eponymous label, ‘Exhibition in a Box’ also allows customers to unpack, hang and physically interact with the elements that informed the collection.
Featuring familiar faces such as the likes of Kaia Gerber, go behind-the-scenes of Anderson’s presentation in Milan, exclusively on Vogue Singapore.
