The need for escapism is all around us. With restrictions growing, the desire to explore and immerse ourselves in new environments is stronger than ever. Enter Gucci Garden Archetypes as an alternate means of going on a sartorial adventure.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Gucci, the Italian brand just launched a multimedia exhibition in Florence. And, while we might not be able to leave Singapore just yet, local Gucci fans will be glad to know that a virtual tour is also available.
Gucci Garden Archetypes takes you on a journey through Alessandro Michele’s vision since taking over as creative director of the House in 2015. Using innovative technology, intricate craftsmanship and imaginative design, design studio Archivio Personale turned Michele’s vision into an immersive showcase, as seen through the lens of 15 Gucci campaigns.
“I thought it was interesting to accompany people in these first six years of adventure, inviting them to cross the imaginary, the narrative, the unexpected, the glitter,” explains Alessandro Michele.”So, I created a playground of emotions that are the same as in the campaigns, because they are the most explicit journey into my imagery. ”
Gucci Beauty’s lipstick campaign for the ‘bold, bright and beautiful’ is illustrated through a multi-screen showcase.
Gucci Bloom is a floral paradise reminiscent of the 2017 campaign for the scent. It featured Dakota Johnson, Petra Collins, and Hari Nef frolicking through a garden.
Enter the remaining doors and discover rooms filled with everything from graffiti (Pre-Fall 2018) to walls of butterflies, wigs and sneakers (Fall/Winter 2018).
Turn a corner and you’ll find yourself in a nightclub bathroom (Spring/Summer 2016) or LA subway carriage (fall/winter 2015).
Each of these spaces pay homage to a different collection, all of which have secured a distinct place in fashion history.
As you settle into working from home once again, Gucci Garden Archetypes is the perfect place to visit for some inspiration, when that urge to explore comes alive.
