Ferragamo
Show review in a line: Balletcore makes a return in a luxurious way, packed with viral pieces in the making.
Designer: Maximilian Davis
Location: Via Colleoni
The vision: Ballet-inspired references have taken over the fashion universe in the past few years, but it’s footwear that has picked up the most steam. Today at Ferragamo’s spring/summer 2025 show, Maximilian Davis presented a ready-to-wear spin on this. Since taking the helm at the legacy maison, Davis has proven that he’s a designer to watch, producing hitmakers that have made even the most traditional of the brand’s customers sit up and take notice.
The vibe: With this change of direction has come a league of faces that match the design savvy and cultural capital of the brand. In the audience was an understated front row, with celebrities like Solange Knowles and Doona Bae making an appearance. The set, as usual, was minimalist, making way for the collection to truly shine.
What to shop from the collection: If there’s one thing that Davis aced with this collection, it was the design of pieces that have certainly fulfilled both the brief of luxurious craftsmanship and virality. Long-sleeved jersey tops sat atop leggings, paired with light trenches, while laser-cut leather coats took the spotlight—with some of Davis’ classic tonal pieces (in electric blue and sumptuous red) bringing the Ferragamo DNA home. The stars of the show, however? Baby pink leggings and heels with ballet ribbons, which we foresee the street style set loving next season.
Dolce&Gabbana
Show review in a line: A heartfelt tribute to Madonna, from her most iconic looks to her unparalleled influence
Designer: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana
Location: Metropol, Viale Piave, 24
The vision: At Dolce&Gabbana it was all about the star of the night: Madonna. Turning up to the show in a classic black lace veil and crown, the superstar received a standing ovation from the audience as she took her seat. It’s no surprise why the designer duo would pay homage to the icon–given her influence in the fashion and cultural universes as well as longstanding relationship with the Italian brand. Synonymous with the unapologetic sexiness, boldness and feminine allure that Dolce&Gabbana is known for, charting Madonna’s influence on the brand comes easily in hindsight.
The vibe: A Dolce&Gabbana show epitomises the allure of all that Milan Fashion Week has to offer. Hosted on the last day of the event, it draws in a crowd of VICs, VIPs and some of the hottest celebrities in the world. As guests trickled in, some of Madonna’s most celebrated songs played over the speakers, only heightening the anticipation for the evening.
What to shop from the collection: On the runway, it was all about Madonna’s greatest looks. Of course, Jean Paul Gaultier’s cone bra was referenced in almost all of the designs alongside the icon’s blonde curls. In a sensual-meets-daring line up, other showstoppers included cinching corsets and garters, floral bustier dresses and unapologetic mini dresses topped off with towering block heels. It was a show to remember.
Bottega Veneta
Show review in a line: A nostalgic yet stylish nod to our playful days of childhood dress-up
Designer: Matthieu Blazy
Location: Fabbrica Orobia, Via Orobia 15
The vision: Closing off Milan Fashion Week was a star-studded evening at Bottega Veneta’s spring/summer 2025 show. This season, Blazy took a lighthearted turn, presenting a collection that playfully revived the joy of childhood dress-up. Oversized jackets, wrap skirts, and one-leg trousers brought back memories of slipping into parents’ clothes for fun. Dresses with built-in wrinkles felt like they’d been pulled from the bottom of a trunk, waiting for an impromptu dress-up adventure. The notion continued with bunny-shaped lapels on coats, and scarf tops accented with giant fish. Balancing the eccentricity of the range were sleek, flowing dresses and vibrant skirts, complementing the playful pieces.
The vibe: And what better way to enhance the nostalgic lineup than with animal-shaped beanbag chairs? Inspired by a scene from E.T., guests walked into a venue filled with leather plush animals, each hand-selected as their designated seats—I, for example, got a bear—before the likes of Kendall Jenner, I.N, Rowoon, and Jacob Elordi made their entrance. The playful atmosphere perfectly echoed the collection’s whimsical spirit, making the entire event feel like a stylish ode to our inner child.
What to shop from the collection: The show was a consistent display of Matthieu Blazy’s mastery of movement and texture. This found itself in examples both big and small: intrecciato weaves on square-toed loafers; the peek of a scarf draping out of a black tailored co-ord; deliciously huge top-handle bags; and a pièce de résistance in the form of furry headpieces, made entirely out of leather. Every detail was crafted with Blazy’s signature finesse, wrapping up the spring/summer 2025 collection that was equal parts artsy and delightfully cheeky.
