Vogue’s best looks from the Chanel Métiers d’Art 2025 show

A line of models stepped out in glossy black coats, adorned with sparkling buttons, floral embroidery, and shimmering latticework, evoking the way light dances across the textured surfaces of the iconic screens. Iridescent pearl inlays, rich with historical storytelling, emerged as a recurring motif on leggings, bodysuits, and even on a bolero. Amidst this, a peculiar yet captivating shade of cedar extended a lived-in warmth to the otherwise shimmery collection, adding depth and character.

Alongside the oversized duffels, totes and intricate shell-shaped purses, the standout of the evening was an extraordinary leather slip dress, drenched in gold, resembling a silk under garment from a bygone era (look 46). Sensual, youthful yet cohesive, the design studio perfectly captured the allure and timeless elegance through this Métiers d’Art collection. With such masterful artistry on display, it’s clear that there’s no urgency for a new creative director.

What to shop from this collection: Perhaps it’s because Chanel rarely ventures into oversized bags, or maybe it’s just my personal bias—I’m undeniably drawn to large carryalls. This season’s standout accessories include extra-large overnighters and duffels (looks 4 and 6), blending practicality with a luxurious touch.

While the spirit of travel is in the air, there’s no overlooking the timeless appeal of a cropped Chanel tweed jacket woven entirely from metallic yarns (look 13). However, the true collector’s item this season would have to be the Mao jacket (look 17), adorned with intricate depictions of birds perched on cherry blossom branches—an iconic motif lifted directly from the lacquered panels of the legendary Coromandel screens. And as if that weren’t enough, the subtle take on Chinoiserie even saw a series of mules featuring heels sculpted to resemble candle holders—a whimsical touch that seamlessly blends the past with the present.
