Halloween is upon us, and the entertainment calendar is already getting into the spirit. With Dominic Fike adding to the Halloween soundtrack with a new album release, the festivities are already off to an interesting start. But as far as 31 October goes, there is one annual spectacle that arguably trumps them all: seeing just how far celebrities will go with their Halloween costumes. From the character references to the painstaking details that bring them to life, the transformations are often as entertaining as the occasion itself. And while the biggest reveals are still to come, a few familiar faces have already given us plenty to talk about.
Some celebrities have taken the opportunity to turn Halloween into a game of dress-up, with familiar faces and family members becoming the unlikely subjects of their transformations. Kim Kardashian, North West and Natalie Nunn have spent the week trading identities with Kim setting the tone by dressing as her daughter North, complete with a teal wig, faux dermal piercings, long charm-studded nails and goth styling. North, in turn, transformed into Bad Girls Club star Natalie Nunn, sporting a prosthetic chin, angled bob and ‘Baddies’ necklace. She later switched things up as Raven from Teen Titans, while Nunn returned the favour by dressing as North. Paris Hilton, meanwhile, revisited her Britney Spears tradition for the third time, recreating the singer’s 2001 VMAs ‘I’m a Slave 4 U’ look, complete with an albino Burmese python. She then traded the pop-star tribute for a little Disney magic from Beauty and the Beast, with her children dressed to match.
Others have looked to the worlds of animation and pop culture for inspiration. Chlöe Bailey became ‘hot Meg’ Griffin from Family Guy, complete with a denim mini, pink strapless bra, silver knee-high boots and Meg’s signature pink beanie and glasses. Lizzo went the anime route as Seiko Ayase, while Owen Thiele and Benito Skinner paid tribute to PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson. Victoria Justice also revived her Love Zombie party in a shredded black ensemble and chain-trimmed boots, with her sister Madison Reed arriving as a bloodied Carrie.
Of course, there is still one transformation we are waiting for. Heidi Klum, Halloween’s reigning queen, has yet to reveal her costume, but has teased something ‘bloody’, hinting at organ-like prosthetics ahead of her 25th annual Halloween party. After her Medusa transformation last year, expectations are understandably high. With the big night still ahead, there’s plenty more to come. Below, the celebrity Halloween transformations that deserve a spot on the costume hall of fame.
